A Grizzled Veteran

A collection of ridiculous essays

Reviews

These are reviews received by Diana Gaeta’s critics and fans throughout the years.

Diana is the curious sort of sprite who improves the world simply by living in it, and we are all blessed to have her. Since her manifestation into this realm, she has been a loving, caring friend, always doling out advice to those in need and expecting nothing in return. Her intricate awareness of and insight into human nature is almost freakishly divine. I’m pretty sure she has a secret mutant power to detect when someone is lying their ass off, which she cloaks with the vague tag of “expertise”. A champion bullfighter and plumber, she is a veteran of sixteen World Wars, fifteen of them not on Earth, has written such acclaimed literary works as Hamlet, Lolita, The Brothers Karamazov and The Master and Margarita and has vowed to never return to Washington, D.C. until they “rub the smell of Cheney off that town” -Kevin M. Brettauer, Fellow Blogger (for Popmatters), Professional Sex Machine, and Undeniable Genius

Old soul with a young heart. Writing that goes down smooth with a dash of gin. Calloused but warm. Not afraid of getting lost. -Chelsea Spollen, Fellow Blogger

Diana is warm and empathetic with an easy connection to forms of self expression such as dance, music, and that awesome sand art. Lacks confidence that she deserves to possess, which seems to fuel anxiety about her ability to handle things. Is not confrontational, but knows bullshit when she sees it. Free spirited and funloving, a good friend in silly and serious times. -Avalon Mason, The New Yorker

A Grizzled Veteran, a blog by Diana Gayta (fuck you thats how it sounds) reads a little bit like college news paper collum, some interesting bits here and there and a ton of opinion, while I do not agree with every thing I cannot deny the sheer hilarity of her topics and prose. My name is Lee Weber, and I approve this. -Lee Weber, The Onion

Diana Gaeta is a happy, energetic, bunny rabit, with lots of complexity and simplicity! ahhhhh. -Cassandra Gaeta, Diana’s sister while intoxicated

When Diana speaks
Her eyebrows raise high
Her arms and hands move quickly
In illustrative gesticulation
She is someone other people notice as they walk by
Secretly listening to what she has to say
She’s not hard to notice. -Katelyn Hanson, poet and friend

Diana is adorable and hip. Diana has a beautiful smile and gives really good massages, and is fun to cuddle with. Diana is fun to talk to because she is smart and insightful. Diana has an above average sex drive and doesn’t limit her partners to just boys or just girls. Diana has the most perfect pair of clavicles i’ve ever seen. -An Anonymous (and very enthusiastic) Fan

ta wen hen ben de wenti. -Alex Rivera, The Cantonese Times
